how to remove the 1984 lower windshield moulding when replacing the windshield

Cracked windshield on my 1984 300zx (pre turbo) needs to be replaced. There is a moulding along the bottom of the windshield that stops the windscreen wiper moving too far. How should this be removed. Are there any other problems with replacing the windshield that I need to be aware of?

The moulding really doesn't have anything to do with wiper movement. But to get it off the wipers need to be removed. Where they attach is a pivot that needs to be litfted up to get at the 10mm nut that holds the wiper on. The moulding itself is held in place with screws.

If you are thinking about doing it yourself I would reconsider that as a proper windshield installation is key to the strength/integrity of the roof.

Most installers will remove trim and wipers for a small upcharge when doing the windshield. Mine was a turbo but there is really no difference besides tinting and trim color. Most national brand shops were $200 and up to do it. I found a local installer and he put the same one in that they would have for $130, even came to the house. Make sure that the side and upper trim is put in by them at the same time. Bottom can be put back whenever.
Pay a glass place to do it for you. THere are a few things I will NEVER do to my car.
Windows, tires, and alignments.
