How much torquue to apply to new Aluminum Delrin TC kit?

I know the stock spec is 44 lbs. but this kit comes with a spacer and instructs to tighten untill the spacer fits across bushings on both sides. I did this and upon tightening the nut down to this point I only reached about 10 lbs of torque. Surely this can't be enough I said, so I proceeded to tighten down untill I felt they were "snug". Also with the added movement in this area will it be necessary to add a locking washer before the nut?

Thanks

Torque is not proper consideration here.

What you're after is proper compression of the rubber bushing on the backside. I think you've probably squished it way too much.

Check the instructions with your kit that you've put everything together in proper order. Watch the rubber bushing as you (re) tighten. Once you've got a little squeeze on 'er she'll start to deform. You want 'er snug but not bulged way out of shape. That gauge in the kit should give you the right compression if you've got all the parts stacked up properly.

Later,
Al
