I am going to do a engine swap to my 73 240 and want to know how much hp they can handle ,Im going to go with a 82 zxt motor .Thanks for the help

i've always heard that the r180's are fine up to about 300 ft/lbs of torque; and with r200 i've seen turbo cars pushing 500 hp...so with a modest turbo application i'd say you'd be fine but if you plan on making some real horsepower and torque then you would need to swap to an r200.

i broke several r-180 stub axels when i ran on slicks at the drags.i was putting mabey 250 ft pounds when they broke.i just had good traction. my r-200 with lsd has been bulletproof . i have see v-8 z`s run low 10 sec runs with lsd equipted r-200`s.

thanks for the info ,what do you mean by lsd ? will a 200 just do? How do I know what in my 73 240 now?

what he means by lsd is limited slip differential
