I would like to know how much work is involved in removing fenders, headlight buckets, and MSA Aero II airdam from a 280Z, then re-installing. I am having the engine bay painted and I am thinking taking all of this stuff off would lead to a better job (around edges, etc.). The body shop would do it, but I need to know if it would be several hours of added work. I'm guessing it would be a lot easier with a lift.

Thanks,

Hey Matthew - My son and I just removed the entire front end on a Sunday afternoon in cluding the radiator, fenders bumber and cowl. It was actually pretty easy. Had a little trouble with the fenders lifting off but overall the 280Z came apart pretty easy. We also pulled the engine in that afternoon. Nice day to work with your son is anydday.

I'd take chromeshadow's advice and get the bolts lubricated in advance, and it could be really easy if there is all factory fenders, but my fenders are Tiwan [email protected], and need all kinds of pulling and pushing and bending to get it all straight and true. Chances are yours should'nt be bad, even if they are cheap fenders, because they've already been bumped and bent to shape. I'd do it.

Taking the fenders off is easy. Its the drilling and tapping the broken off rusty bolts that kills the flat rate!Spray em with WD Back the bolts out a couple of turns spray em again turn a couple more turns,It is worth taking a little more time taking the bolts out.Dont forget the ones under the Cowl area (where wiper motor is).

Good Luck
