How do I remove the plastic lower cover that goes under and around the ignition. I got the top off but it looks like
you have to remove the ignition key switch.(I want to restore
the covers as they are oxidised. (Its an 82 280ZX).
Thanks for any help

Hi David,
I just did it yesterday. Get a mirror and flash lite, and look under the cover, they are 4 or 5 screws (different lenghts). Do not remove switch. Try cleaning with steel wool. I put shoe polish on mine and they look great, or you can paint them with plastic paint. Good luck.

Also...

There is a metal ring around the switch, (between the cover and switch) get your fingernail or something else flat under the ring and just pull it out...

have fun

Re: Also...

When you put it back it can be a pain at first.
A spring steel ring snaps on the rod.
It’s easy just push, some people fear breaking something.
Also don’t let it get you down making the little plastic pin thingies line up.
I all fits back just keep your cool.
When playing the screws next to that switch mentioned, shake the switch to make sure it’s not the screw being removed.
