Hi guys,
Removed my intake and exhaust manifolds to clean my carbs on my 71 240z. As i went to put it back together, the gasket I bought from Nissan had metal around the sides of the exhaust and intake ports where as the one i took off was just a regular gasket. I have no idea which side the metal pieces go. Should the metal portion go against the engine or should it be matched up against the intake and exhaust manifold? I have no idea, so i'm going to guess and put it on with the metal sides facing away from the engine..........

Metal goes toward the intake and exhaust manifolds, not towards engine. You are correct. I had the same question few months back.
