i just replaced the timing belt on my 86 300zx non-turbo. ever since i replaced it, my oil pressure has been running higher than usual. when it is cold especially or at highway speeds, the oil pressure gauge will read as high as sometimes over 60 (psi i would guess). Before i replaced the belt, the pressure sat at a constant 35 on the gauge. it now will vary between 30 and sometimes above 60. i know the pressure is supposed to be between the 30 and 60 marks on the gauge. first of all, why is this happening? second, is it a problem?

Be happy with the higher oil pressure, maybe it's the one that's true. Suspect it's the oil pressure sensor that's is giving the strange readings.
