What's the big deal? :) Sounds like they just need a rebuild with nice new gaskets. The kits are cheap and come with new o-rings and pretty little rubber washers. Don't forget to rip apart the fuel bowl inlet mechanism and put new seals in it, those places leak pretty bad if they're old.

Not only could they be set wrong, but they could be cracked from age, or the needle valve itself could be leaking around the gasket or from dirt or wear. In any case rebuild it and install new floats at the same time. That will fix all the problems.

The jet needle or float may be stuck from a bit of crud. A rap on the bottom of the float bowl with the plastic end of a screwdriver. Sometimes frees the needle/float.
