Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has had this problem my car shifts from first to second at 3500 rpm's under hard acceleration but 2nd to 3rd is at 5500.

My fluid is fine, I didnt notice this problem before i had my head gasket replaced ( but I only had the car a couple weeks before that) and it isnt all of the time, but most of the time. Could it be a vacume leak and if so which one do you think, as far as I can tell all of them were replaced before I bought the car.

Also I am for the first time noticing coolant in the cabin on the pasenger side is there a gasket or something on the heater core that needs to be replaced?

Mike, What year is the z ? Mine will only pull 4k at the shifts, as far as the coolent leak , it could be the heater core or a hose leak or the water controll valve is shot or all the above . Your going to have to stand on your head and see what it is . Dont do what the guy I bought my car from and ignore it untill it rusted a hole in the floor . Good luck . Gary Portland

My car shifts at 3500 every time, therefore I have gotten in the habit if shifting it by hand most all of the time. The first thing I would check is the the vaccum line is not broken that goes to the transmission. Also check that the kick-down switch is working.

Here is your problem

Sounds like the governor (inside the rear tail-shaft housing) is either worn out (very likely) or sticking. If you need a new one, I have some. [email protected]
