looking for help/advice.
a few months ago, we bought a 78 280. my dad had a 79 280 ZX years ago, and my wife had a 77 280 when she was in high school. driving this around had been a GREAT trip down memory lane for both my wife and i.
when registering the car, we determined that the car probably hadn't been driven in 5 or 6 years. the last registration expired in 95. the DMV didn't even have the license plate in the database anymore. we knew the car was going to need some mechanical TLC, but the exterior is in GREAT shape. no rust, interior is in good shape, and it passed the CA smog test. so we bought it.
anyway, here's the problem i'm working on right now:
when cold, the car starts fine. no problems at all. when the car has been running for awhile, especially on the freeway, then i can't get it to start after turning it off (to stop in at a store, for instance). once the car finally cools down, then it starts fine. i think that the starter is going bad, but i'm not positive. if anyone has any advice on something else to try or look at, then i would GREATLY appreciate it. i'd like to see what else i might try before i go out and spend money on a starter that may/may not solve my problem.
thanx
