ouch!! The FSM (manuyal) wiull say that you can remove the necessary parts through the dash by removing the console. In reality, that is not possible. By far the easiest thing to do is to remove the dash. It is only 13 screws, 2 big bolts, and a lot of extrasneous stuff. Once you do that, everything will be open for you work work on easily.

Not to mislead you. this is at least a weekdn of work to replace a part worj $100.

It is more apt to be hoses or water on--off valve at heater.

Not necessary to remove dash or heater box to get to valve and heater core.

Remove pas. seat, glove box, & heater fan & moter. Now you have a littel room to
work & see what is leaking.

If it is the core, it will slide out of heater box to the right by removing the plate on the side of heater box.

I replaced the short formed hoses on my 78, but if I had to do over I would try to find a manual opperated inline on--off instead of reusing the one that came on the car.
