Just curious. Have considered putting headers on 77 280z coupe. What's the deal smog wise in Calif. Are headers legal - do you have to do mods. etc..

I put headers on. Its legal if you have the proper sticker. Look for the past post SMOG IN CA>

I'm in the same boat. Passes on the numbers, fails visual. There are NO smog legal headers for our cars that I can tell. I even tried using a Thorley EO number (D200-21) which covered a generic range 78-95 Nissan vehicles and it did not work. They actually checked with Doug Thorley who told them is was not legal. I've tried getting an exemption but so far, they (BAR) are ignoring me.

What have you done to pass????

well winoman i never got a sticker i found a smog shop that was very helpful in looking past the visual. Turns out the tech owns a few z's.. I was just saying you need one that i dont think is easy to find.
