I have a 1982 280zx and have an exhaust leak between the manifold and the head it seems that it is eaten up at the head only one cyl. Oh and the manifold is craked never seen this before have you? or is it typical for the z's,I can change manifold but what can be done for the head? there is like a sheet metal pipe in the exhaust port it is all loose in there.Help!
Thanks

first off the sheet metal piece is for emisions so if you dont have to worry about emmisions....then kill it. But if you do you might want to take all of them out. I dont get what you mean by eaten up....but if the head has pitting it can be machined down, just make sure it is straight. good luck

There is an air gap between the "sheet metal" tube and the aluminum that usually fills up with exhaust "crud". So it would look "eaten up" but is normal.
