Does anyone know how the E31 head and the maxima N47 head compare as far as cc's. I know the engines are both 2.4L engines, and I am planning on replacing my 240z's cracked head this weekend with a maxima N47 head. I wanted to figure out the compression ratio and see if they would be different or not.

I can't give exact figures but the n47 will lower your compression. A lot of people are gonna tell you not to use it because the exhaust liners will kill the flow, but I've seen data to the contrary. As I'm sure you know the lowered commpression will cut into your performance. A lot of people prefer the n47 to the e88 though. I think it may have bigger valves.

I've read here that the Maxima n-47 cc's at 38.5 to 40 depending on year, but I have not independently verified this. L-engine says on an otherwise stock 240 engine, your compression will go from 9.13:1 to 9.54:1 assuming 40cc maxima n-47. Zoomer

yeah, the only info I could find said between 39 and 40 cc's, so that sounds good. I assume it will raise compression a little bit, cuz in the book, the 240z's are listed at 8.8:1, and the maxima says 8.9:1. And they have the same displacement, so it should work out. I appreciate it.
