I just purchased an '83 280zx coupe with a 5-spd manual transmission.
It drove perfectly for a week, and it still drives pretty well, but i have noticed that from time to time when i push the clutch to the floor and then shift into gear, just before the shift knob is where it is suposed to be it feels and sounds like the gears grind against each other. Any ideas? The clutch was just replaced 5000 miles or so ago, but the transmission is original (i think).

thanks

I have had the same problem too, except only when I shift from 3rd down to 2nd. I decided to run 75w90 synthetic in the tranny. I helped but I have been told that the problem is the syncronizer in my tranny. Hope some of this helps.
