Gas pedal stuck to floormat

Yesterday while accelerating, my gas pedal got stuck under the flloormat. The RPM's wrapped up to about 10,000 for about 3-4 seconds before I could get it un-stuck. Is that going to cause any long term damage to my L28? It seems to run and sound just fine now. BTW I dont have a driver side floormat anymore!!

Ooops

Well the good news is the tech is not accurate. If you had turned 10,000 for 3 or 4 seconds it would probably not have survived.

High RPMs are very destructive to an engine, unless you are willing to tear the engine down and rebuild it there isn't alot you can do. I would drive it like you always did and not be worried about it. IF you damaged something it would likely fail in the near term so enjoy it and learn that turning the key off is an option.
I've had the exact same thing happen, and my engine was fine. Then the exact same thing happened again, and my engine was still fine. Then it happened a third time, and I fixed the mat. My engine is still fine. Therefore, I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that YOUR engine is still just fine. I notice that you fixed your mat much more quickly than I fixed mine, but I will not concede that this single indicator is a reliable index for comparing our relative intelligence.
Well either way its either hurt or it isn't so just run it and see if it blows but I'm betting as well that your fine.
I think you shold fix the problem or learn how to power shift! Was it just hung up on the carpet, floor mat or in the linkage?
Remove the bubble gum off the floor mats.
