Gas Pedal is Very Hard to Depress

1017 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  palladin
I have a '73 Z car that has not run in 10 years and I finally got it running. I notice the gas pedal is very tight. I really have to press hard to run the car. What is the reason for this and how do I loosen it up? Thanks in advance for your help!

Lube all the linkage under the hood....
You may want to disconnect the linkage near the carbs, then try the pedal again. If it works easier, problem could be in the carbs.
Lube every joint from the foot feed to the carbs. The ball & sockets are pop on & off, a little grease on them should free it up. Slide needle nose plyers under the socket and gently twist/push them off.
