Hi. My Zed leaks an embarassing amount of fuel very suddenly, when you hit the very top of the fill tube. Until then everything is fine. I like to fill it up all the way. It is not until you get to within a couple of inches of the top of the filler neck, however, that suddenly my car pisses it's pants. Come to think of it, is has always been when a Mustang 5.0 or a Grand National pulls up alongside it. yuk, yuk. Anyway, I cannot find the source fo the leak. ANybody know??

About an inch down the filler neck is a hole going into a pipe that runs toward the back of the car. It's there to let air escape the top of the gas tank when you fill it up. That hose gets very brittle and can crack and leak. Does the gas just seem to dribble out of no where behind the right rear tire or along the bottom of the rear bumper? Does the interior have a gassy smell after you fill up? It will be the hose or the bottle inside your right rear side panel.

That hole/hose is very important...it also allows air to enter the tank as the gas is used up...or a vacuum will form and the engine could starve...that extra ounce or two you get when you overfill doesn't do you much good when you spill that much
...it just costs you $$$$...but if you are happier...Go For It...)

I have the same problem. I am in prosses of changing the fuel vent hoses. I am using the napa hoses at a $1.00 a foot.not the original equip at 30 to 80 a hose. once this is done i will fill the tank then figure out if i need the large filler hose.. I will go to it on thur. I think there might be one hose i can not get to rear drivers side without droping tank and that i do not want to do. anyone one have a better idea or thoughts

Appeciate the help. What I did was to take out the panel inside the car, revealing all of the tubing. That did not tell me anything. It all seemed fairly solid. The gas seems to be coming out from behind the right rear tire, to answer graham's question. Thanks again.
