Hello, I posted days ago that my car started hesitating badly after
installing an aftermarket stereo in my car. Well I looked for any
vacuum leaks or mislead wires under the dash and couldn't find
any, but the problem got consideralbly worse after checking it. I think
I figured out where it's coming from, It seems every time I turn the key
to on (not starting) the fuel pump comes on. The day I replaced the stereo
we did this alot to make sure everything was working alright. Also last night
when I checked it out I turned it to on position a few times and when I finally
started the car the problem was worse. Does anyone know what is going on here
what happens to the fuel pump when I turn the key to on without starting,
because it seems to be harming my car by doing this.
sorry so long. Thanks

It is normal for the fuel pump to come on when the key is in the On position. It should hear it come on for a few seconds followed by a click noise in the glove compartment area. This is usually the way for you to check fuel pump operation.

About 2 years ago I had a hesitation problem and it was solved by replacing the fuel pressure regulator. The car was already in good tune. You can also check/replace your fuel filter, which may get clogged even after 10K miles.
