Ok I let one of my friends drive my Z the other day and he left the lights on and killed the battery. When they jump started it they crossed + and - and fried the fusible link. I replaced the link and now the fuel pump cycles for 3 seconds pauses and repeats without the key being on. I replaced the fuel pump relay and its still doing it. any suggestions???????

Thanks in advance.

Don't let dumb friends drive your Z?

But seriously, check for other stuff that got screwed up, I'm sure it did more damage than just blow one fusible link. Check your grounds, check your wires, check your fuel pump.

If the 87 has a safety relay for the fuel pump like the 88 then the pump should still be ok. It's possible that the diode in the safety relay shat itself, but that is not its normal function.

Just for kicks, disconnect the battery for half a minute or so and reconnect.
If the pump still cycles then the ECU could be buggered.
