Folks; need your help.
Need to replace fuel pump on my 83 280ZX, non-turbo
and was able to find an after market unit real easy.
Problem is highly recommended that the strainer and
fuel filter be replaced at the same time, but cannot find a strainer!!!
Have been on the phone most of day with no luck.
Any idea on where I can find replacement or
whether strainer from another vehicle will work?
thanks in advance...

Hi ejmora-------------Probably the best place to find a strainer is the local pick & pull. The unit on any '79 to '83 ZX should work. When I had fuel line problems with my '83 turbo, I was able to clean the strainer with a toothbrush and compressed air well enough to restore it to working condition. If you don't have holes in yours, you can most likely do the same.

Local auto parts store should have a universal nilon ? bag that ties around end of pickup line.
On my 79 F350 the screen was split, I tied the bag around the fraim that held the screen.

I replaced mine recently, got the strainer from Courtesy Nissan. Was about $30 with shipping but took two weeks to get it.

btw: the old one was stained but didn't really appear to be a problem. You can remove that assembly on the tank fairly easily and inspect it, maybe even clean it up a bit if it needs it. It probably doesn't need to be replaced.

Be sure to bleed off fuel pressure as recommended in the manual and remove the gas cap to vent pressure before removing the fuel lines.

enjoy the ride
