I've just replaced probably the 4th or 5th fuel pump on my '83 280zx within the last two years. Has anyone else had problems with fuel pumps that fail about every 6 months? They appear to sieze. They just stop working. Any ideas? Could a fuel pressure regulator contribute to this problem? It's the only thing I havn't changed. Thanks.

RE: Fuel Pump Failure

i've owned 5 z cars with electrical fuel pumps, and everyone has had the original. the first and only one i ever replaced was in a 76 that had 160k miles on it. i drove the car 4 more years (about 80k miles) after replacement without a hitch. maybe you have water in your gas tank or are getting water with your gas when you fill up causing the internals of the pump to corrode. sounds like an unusual thing in any event
