Would anyone expect that you would have to replace the fuel pressure regulator if your fuel pump has gone south ? Dealership is saying yes. What about the fuel damper mechanism ?

The answer is no. The pump supplies the fuel. The regulator controls the pressure and the damper smoothes out the pulses. Unless the regulator and damper are defective, you do not need to replace them. Do not buy their bs if they tell you they will not warranty the pump without replacing the regulator and damper. Maybe you should try some other shop. Good luck!!!
