I'm sure this question has been asked many times. sorry.

I've installed an eletric fuel pressure guage and I'm reading 24 lbs at idle and up to 32 pounds at full throttle, this seems low. I think it should be about 36 lbs. Car has a little surge at low speed. I've replace all ignition parts, AFM, throttle switch, O2 sensor, etc. I've replaced the fuel filter, fuel regulator and fuel damper. All lines seem straight, no kinks.

Could the fuel pump be marginal? If I squeeze the return line, the pressure will rise.

Anyone replace the stock fuel pump with a high performance electric fuel pump? What brand and model?

Hey Chuck...my 76 service manual says the fuel pressure should be approximatly 36.3 psi over the specified car speed range....if below the specified value...replace the fuel pump. I'm just guessing that the zx is simular. gary

Couldn't it also be a bad fuel pressure regulator?

Yep, could be....he posted that he replaced it already.

I would be inclined to check your fuel pressure with a mechanical gage first before spending $$$ on a pump. Seems like fuel pressure would be lower at full throttle than at idle??? Perhaps it may be in the electric gage and the pump is good...just a thought. Hope this helps. gary
