My son's '76 280Z ran just fine this fall, but when he removed the dashboard to replace the heater assembly and reassembled it, it will only run for 5 seconds. It appears to be running only on the cold start valve, with the main fuel injectors not operating. Where should we start to look, or where can we get information regarding the fuel injection system? We have the Chilton manual with the schematics, and it unfortunately doesn't help.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I had a similar problem on my 78. My fuel injectors weren't working. I got to looking at the battery and noticed that some of the wires connected to the + side of the battery were corroded. They were two 8 or 10 guage white wires that apparently go to the fuel injectors. I cleaned them up and it worked great.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like it is brain dead. Check the power
leads, and plug ins to the brain, hopefully one got disconnected. Or if it could have got jump started with reverse polarity, it could fry the brain, in which case it will start, and die, only running off of the cold start injector.

Thanks for the help. Turns out the son forgot to connect a harness connector after removing the dashboard. We are learning slowly.
