Beware!

They could restrict the airflow, causing you to run lean and BLOW your headgasket! ;-p

Did you have to read it to know what it said, Gearhead?

Re: Ah, Tony D, but...

Yes, restricting the airflow would cause it to be rich. Indeed you are correct. So rich, as to say the fuel may pool, and run down the intake as a solid mass of liquid. This would cause hydrolocking, and resultant head-gasket (if not head completely bloweth off!) blowage! Never mess with the master...

I saw a Ford truck hydrolock at about 4500 when he went under water. It was really funny to watch his face as a BIG dent popped into the left side of the hood almost instantaneously with the BOOM of the motor going away. The dent was caused when the head bolts broke, and the head blew off, hitting the hood! 1978 Ford F250 4X4. After that he didn't seem so keen at taking "cross the river here" challenges without putting a stick in to check for deep holes...
We all thought it was hilarious..

Hey Gearhead!

What's wrong with the "socks" you have now?

I think Ebola's correct, tho---Motorcycle shops should have them. Something for a 500CC single-cylinder bike should work fine, as that's the equivalent of a 3-liter six...

Hey, dig FlameZZZ and his rantings and name calling on the posts above on four barrels and carb conversions on 280's. Some people have waaay to much sensitivity about some things...
