flooding

My 76z is giving us problems. It stalls at idle and is hard to get the RPM up. We discovered it is flooding, as the oil smells of gas. We clamped the gas line and it ran perfectly. We have tried changing the computer, mass airflow, fuel regulator and fuel pump and still have the same problem. Any suggestions?? Perhaps we have overlooked something?

Thanks in Advance

Check your ignition, weak ign. will cause flooding. Here's a way to check.
1. Obtain an at least one spark plug for your z.
2. Starting with #1 cylinder, remove the spark plug, install new plug in this cylinder.
3. Fit the removed(#1) spark plug in the #1 cilynder plug wire, then ground the body of spark plug on any part of the bare metal chasis.
CAUTION!!! If you don't have it grounded, it will SHOCK you. Best way to ground the spark plug is to use a vise grip pliers to clamp the plug to a convinient chasis (bare metal) ground.
4. Crank the engine and see what type of spark ,if any, is jumping across the plug gap.
5. The spark you see should have some THICKNESS to it and should have some duration to it, otherwise there's probably an ignition problem.
6. Do the same for remaining cylinders
more questions, no problem, email me.
good luck

It sounds to like its the water temperature sensor. In my car it's a head temp sensor. If it is bad it will tell the computer that the engine is cold and enrichen the fuel mixture. You should find yours up by the thermostat housing. If you have a haynes manual it will tell you how many ohms it should be reading cold and hot.

Hope this helps you out.
