Re: firing order 79 280ZX L28E PLEASE HELP ! ! ! !

I don't see your file but here's all you need to know. All 6 cylinder inline engines fire 1-5-3-6-2-4. The only difference you may find is that most start numbering with one at the front. I believe that Jaguar starts with # 1 at the back.

Distributor rotation is CCW and number one on the cap is at 5 o'clock position looking toward the rear of the car.

Bob,
Looking at the dist. from the drivers side, I think the #1 cap position is about 8 o'clock position isn't it? It does spin CCW. Correct me if I am wrong, but this is what I thought it was supposed to be.

It all depends upon your frame of reference. To keep people talking the same game, diagrams are usually referenced as seen from the front, or from the driver's seat. Right and Left on the car is always referenced as seen from the driver's seat.

If you stand at the left side of the car and look across the engine compartment to the right side of the car (perpendicular to the engine) number one on the distributor is about at the 8 o'clock position. If you stand at the front of the car and look directly toward the back, inline with the engine, number one is just to the right of the 6 o'clock position. (or about 5 o'clock).

All in-line 6 have a firing order of 1-5-3-6-2-4 With the numbers running from front to rear. With the exception of jaguar's run rear to front

Re: firing order 79 280ZX L28E PLEASE HELP ! ! ! !

Check You Cap Most Nissan Caps will have
number one stamped in the plastic of the cap
... if your not sure find the timing mark on the crank and rotate the engine to TDC the Rotor
will Point to the right plug or be 180 out!!!
If you pull you valve cover you will see both
cam lobes on there flats for No 1 Piston ... if there not then your 180 out !!!

Storm Hope that Helps
