My 82 280ZX has the usual problem with the ignition key where you have to put it in just right or else it won't turn. I was wondering if it would be detrimental in the long run to spray WD-40 in the ignition? I can make it work now, so please be sure it won't mess my ignition up if you tell me to go ahead and do it. Thanks.

WD-40 wont hurt it, but it does tend to get gummy after a while. Try some Graphite, it's a dry black powder, which is usually used for keyed locks. You can get it at any hardware store.

I had the same problem with my 82 280ZX. Get a new key made by a locksmith. Your key is just worn out and isn't turning the tumblers as well. I would try the new key ($2) before I put anything into the lock cylinder.
