I used to have several parts catalogs from companies around the country for 240/260/280z stuff. I seemed to have lost them over the years and am now looking once again for the best price, quality and situation to buy a Ferrari style body kit for my 240Z. I remember one was called the Velo Rossa Spyder, but there where several companies making, or at least selling them. I am hoping someone out there reading this, can shed some light on who has them, and how I can get a new catalog/brochure. I am paticularly interested in the convertable version...... Thank you all so much, love reading the chats....

The Velo Rossa convertible is a Johnny come lately to the Ferrari re-bodying effort. To see one of the originals that the Vela Rossa is a spin off from go to http://www.jps.net/zparts/photoads.html and click on the Ferrari GTO image to see a larger version. This car is the one that Alpha Engineering was selling that was originally designed in Campbell, CA. The original designer wnt broke, sold it to Alpha and Alpha was sued by Ferrari. The kit past to Arizona Z Car, then onto a Texas outfit that may still be selling it. I believe that the Velo Rossa is a spin off from what went to Texas?

Thats exactly right, the group out of Richardson Texas that still markets the replica is Stable Autoworks. Hard to get them to answer an email. There is also supposed to be a group called Blue Ray that still sells the original McBurnie kit (as the Rhino GT)..??? Cant find any information out about Blue Ray.

I Would love to have one of these beautiful replicas, but cannot imagine taking a cutting torch to the rear fenderwells of my baby (260z)...This is about the only car that I think has sexier lines than the early z cars (or maybe a lotus espirit). If only you didnt have to cut the fender lips!

Take care,

DR

See my Alpha GTO below. I bought it already built last spring. It needs some work but I love it.
