Boy, this is hard, I've been driving Z's for five years now and am now facing having to go back to driving an "ordinary" car,,you know the type,an American SUV or even worse,,, god forbid, a mini-van!
This is due to my second 83 zxt going south,,, the turbo is fried
it is smoking like a fiend, It is fouling plugs, And generally running like s**t.The people around me who matter are giving me much grief over my next move as they say to fix my Z is to throw good money after bad. Now if I could just figure out a way to revive/rebuild my #!!%*&#ing turbo without shelling out more then it would cost to buy another car that would be gangbusters. Is it possible? Help me guys this is my last hope to avoid ending up going down the road looking like some sort of whipped soccer dad ina lame SUV

why not find another turbo motor. It probalbly will have its share of problems to, but would probably run decent.

you can get your turbo re-built for a little over a $100.00. Get a new oil line...swap it out and bam she's back to hauling arse.

my god man what are you saying?
my 82 did the same thing.....the seal on the (engine) side of the turbine went south....still had plenty of boost.....boosted all that oil right into the intake of the engine....and yes!....she did smoke!....
but i tell you....if you take your turbo off (no small feat but very do-able) you can get another (rebuilt one) for 2-300 bucks...maybe less...
i think they were gonna rebuild mine for like $175-200 but i went ahead and got another $400 (but i get $100 back....core).....
you could easily spend that much on towing and taxicabs...."if you sold it and bought something else with the money" ......
its an old car.....but there aint nuthin' anybody is putting now that can hang w/it
for under $20,000-30,000 (and some of them wont either).....
as for those "dastardly" fiends attempting to bereft you of your beloved ride...
......just keep repeating......"I AM THE MAN !".....(in your mind.. or where they cant hear you say it....if you know whats good for you)...

OMG!!! you mean I could get my turbo rebuilt for that cheap????
Pleeease! Tell me where? what? How? etc. Nothing would thrill me more then to be able to revive my babay and one again go ripping by those that bad mouth the holy Z. I'm in the Dallas area if that matters. But please tell me more on how to go this route...Thanks,

YOU GOTTA USE MOBIL 1 OIL Replace the turbo and USE THE OIL

send the turbo to texas rebuild,comes back like new. don't drive a mom mobile
