I have developed an exhaust leak in the area of the #1 or #2 cylinder. The engine is a 1981 L28. This motor powers my 260 and has the stock exhaust manifold. I suspect my manifold gasket is leaking. My question to you is, does anyone have a recommendation as to a particular brand of replacement gasket. Are they all about the same or are some better than others? Thanking you for your inputs!

Ricardo, There have been several posts on this subject. Many times what happens on these is the manifold warps and causes the leaks. It can warp enough to break the studs. So, when you go to replace that gasket, check to make sure it's not warped. It's no trouble to have it planed down, but it can be trouble if the studs are broken. Believe me, this is what happened to mine.

Check the archives. Others had good info on this subject.

Good Luck!
