The N-42 had square exhaust ports and the N-47 had round exhaust ports with the liners inside the port. The liners were used to heat up and aid in burning unused fuel for emission purposes.

The head used on the 280zx turbo was the P-90 and the P-90A. I have forgotten the # on the block, but it is not the N-42. I use the N-42 head on my turbo car, but the head was not originally designed for a turbo motor. The N-42 head came on the 280z in 75 and maybe on some in 76. The N-47 came on late 76-78 280z's. Nothing on your car is from a turbo motor, but that does not mean you can't use it in
turbo applications.
