I have a '77 280Z FI and have replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug cables, cap and rotor, catalytic and also bought an Optima red top but I am having problems with the car stalling on me. I have searched and found that others have stalling issues with their Z/ZXs also. But mines will stall under 1600-1700 rpm. I'm thinking it's an induction problem, either air or fuel but I'm not really 100% sure about it. I have read several things on fuel and delivery but haven't found some fault that causes these symptoms. I appreciate the help.

check fuel cut off in AFM (if early 77)

check fuel cut off switch at oil sender if later.

park car get someone to hold idle at 2500 rpm then slowly drop rpms as you listen/feel fuel pump and see if it stops as the idle decreases

Yup, it will have the fuel cut off in the AFM.

I recommend checking the fuel cut off functioning of the afm. The shiny chromed hook that hangs from the lead weight pushes the tall fuel switch contact closed when the car is off. If this chrome hook is bent, the fuel switch may be turning off early.
