Hi all, i just have a quick question. I am interested in getting a performance cam, springs etc. I was also planning on adding a header and low flow exhaust at the same time. would I be better off just rebuilding the engine rather than just the top end. my main dilema is that i am student and have about a month off from school and my Z is my daily driver. Is it really worth it to do just the top end. And also anybody have other ideas of what I could do while I was in there.
Thanks again for any help you guys give me. You've all been so helpful!!

rebuilding the top half only is going to put alot of wear on the bottom half and will probably prematurely wear your rings. i would recommend doing the whole engine.
besides the top half is most of the engine. the bottom only has the crank and pistons.

What, if anything, is wrong with it now

Ed,

It really depends on what is wrong. Are you burning oil, if so when, startup only (valve guides) all the time or under load (likely rings), is your compression low or uneven. Or, do you just want to play with high performance add-ons on a budget?

Ok, let us know whats up and we can advise you better...
