my friend has a 280 and it mysteriously dies after like 5 minutes of running and wont start again until it wants to.
any help will be appreciated.

Buy fuel filter,its cheap, and
rent a fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel pump.

Things like that are tough to diagnose from a distance, but it sounds like a fuel problem. If it were me, I would focus my attention there.

Check the Head Temperature Sensor under the #5 spark plug or if the sensor is not there the check the Water Temperature Sensor under the thermostat. Since you didn't tell us what year it was it will be one or the other. If the sensor is going bad it will tell the computer that the engine is cold and richen the fuel mixture to the point of the engine stalling.
