I think I've all ready posted this problem But,
I have a new alternator, a new voltage regular, and a good battery. The thing is it seems to charge normal but when I give it gas the Amp. gauge goes up and overcharges the battery. the higher the RPM the higher the amps There's a switch in side that should control that but it's not doing anything. It's a Nissan regulator.
If any body can help I would appreciate it before I have to pay a professional or turn it into a parts car :-(
Thanks

Bill

sounds like you got a bad VR from nissan

Your problem sounds like a reg problem, you should exchange the one you got from nissan and see what happens with another.
hope it helps,
mike golding

btw, my last one failed in less that 1000 miles.

When you used to change a regulator with a generator you had to polarize the generator by touching a jumper wire across the BAT and FIELD terminals on the regulator.

You do this with an alternator and you'll burn it up. Don't try it.

Okay, if you have a Haynes manual or factory service manual, you will find the procedure for adjusting the regulator. You may be able to bring it back into specifications.
