Hi all,

I have an early 260 and it won't shut off when I turn the ignition switch. I thought it was a faulty switch and was just living with it and killing it with the clutch. However, I tore into it last night and the switch is fine.

Any ideas where to start looking would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Matt

Does it have a replacement alternator, an internally regulated one, from a later model car? If so do a search under diode and alternator for the fix.

john,

I believe i changed the alternator to a later one shortly after I got the car. and come to think of it that might of been about the same time this all started. are you saying that if this is the case, then that's why it's running on?

let me know. in the meantime, i'll check the archives.

thanks,

matt

Matt,
For the 280 anyways, I believe that symptom would appear to be symnomonus with the "starter ignition relay" located on passengers side up under the dash. Theres a cluster of relays there and the ign relay is the very top one.
