has anyone removed their exhaust gas return equipment. i figure all it does is cut power from your engine by making you burn exhaust gases again. does it actually make a noticable difference. i figure you could gain 10-15 hp just guessing. thanks

p.s.: i live in missouri so i don't have to pass emission laws. ha ha ha

I asked this same question years ago when I was having my 280ZX fixed at a Nissan specialist in Jacksonville Fl. Their Z guru told me that removing the EGR would not make any noticable performance gain. I might try it anyway.

I recently removed mine and noticed no difference. There are some theries that say removing it will hurt performance, as it decreases intake temps. I can not say, but i think it looks a ton cleaner without it. I just made a plate covering it.

I disabled mine about 2 months ago by pinching the vacuum line that opens the EGR valve. The engine started pinging like a son of a gun. Unpinched the line and it ran fine again. I would just leave it hooked up. I heard you can run more advance with it hooked up. That just proved it for me.

Hi Pat------------Removing the EGR won't do a thing to help performance. What it will do is let a little more hydrocarbon pollution loose in an already overloaded atmosphere. Your call. FWIW
