I bought a "good" used ecu but what are the procedures for installing it?
disconnect battery first?
any other components that could short out the unit? I don't wanna blow this thing up at 400 bucks!

If the vehicle is completely stock and you are simply replacing the ECU, just plug it in.

It is always smart and recommended to disconnect your battery any time you are working with electrical components on the vehicle. Especially if you are disconnecting or connecting components.
