Hey everybody,
I have a 1976 280z that has a problem with the drivers' side window. If I roll it all the way down, it stays on the track.
However, when I go to roll it back up, the window gets kind of crooked and BONK, it falls off the rack!
I've noticed a plastic strip on the front of the window frame that keeps the front aligned, but the rear has none.

It really sux going to Taco Bell and only being able to roll the window down halfway!!!! Mexican pizzas rule.

lol, I know exactly what you mean, one time I had to crawl out my window cuz my door was jammed, their was all kinds of people around.

Thier should be little plastic covers at each end of the window rack. Also check your screws you could be simply missing some on the rack.

Go to a picknpull yard and get some off other Z's, shouldn't cost you more than a few dollars.

Dukes of Hazzard?

Dang, had to crawl out the window? Did you have to crawl back in?
That HAD to be embarrassing!

Hey, BTW, I fixed the window: the rubber channel at the rear of the window was gone, so I cut a piece from the front channel and used it. Works great now!

Not sure what you're saying about "it falls off the rack".

Do you mean that it won't slide into the felt channel in the upper window guide?

OR

That as you crank the window up, the rear edge gets tilted with respect to the rear edge of the guide?

If the former, then it's probably slipping off the front sash. This is a guide for the front part of the window's metal holder. That piece has a nylon guide that fits inside the sash. If it has come loose, or the nylon guide is broken, you would have that problem.

If on the other hand, it's the latter, then it's your rear roller support that's off.

If you want, give me an e-mail and I'll help you get through it.
