Magnetic trigger? To send spark to the wires? If that's what you're referring to(which I think it is, my 78 280z has magento pickups) then it's that black box on the outside housing of the distributor.

One more time, the Hitachi Dizzy for a N/A engine from 1979 to 1983 is the same and the parts are interchangeable EXCEPT for the following:

The Ignition Module for 1979 to 1981 is Nissan part # 22020-S6702 (aka E12-80).

The Ignition Module for 1982 to 1983 is Nissan part # 22020-P9101 (aka E12-83).

The Vacuum Advance Module, there are more than 12 different ones to choose from depending on where the vehicle is (Cal, other states, Canada and type of transmission).

And finally the mechanical advance counter weights are different for dizzy's with auto or manual transmissions.

More info can be found at:

Hall Effect was used in the Dizzy's found on turbos and are completely different animals.
