I have a 1983 280zx(non-turbo) that was equiped with the digital dashboard. The digital temperature gauge on the dash is pegged to the top about three minutes afetr I start the car. The car is not over heating, the gauge is reading wrong or getting sent the wrong information. Any help on what sensor I need to replace on the engine. I do have the repair book from Datsun and can find my way around the engine, but I am not a electrical engineer. Thanks

First thing to do is wait till it pegs the top of the gauge. Then open the hood and pull off the sensor connector off. It's the one that the connector is on the sensor. not the sensor that the wire is coming out of it(this one is for the injector fan). If the gauge reads zero then you know that it is your sensor. just go and get a new one. If it doesn't fix it then it is somewhere in the dash. Maybe somebody switched those two sensors since they have the same female connectors on the wiring harness.

Hope this helps you out
