[My280ZxIS KILLINGME]

I have a 83' and a 79' 280zx the rear end in the 79 seems to be taller or more narrow than the rear end in the 83 I was just wondering if you guys could tell me which is which..
even though my 83 is in better condition and has been 80% fully restored it seems
the 79 gains higher top speed in the long run.

assuming these are both 5-speed NA cars the 79' should have a r200 with 3.54 ratio and the 83' will have a r200 with a 3.90 ratio, hence the 79' will have a greater top speed but the acceleration should be better on the 83'.

the 79 also had a different 5 speed.. wide ratio more for accelaration definately higher top speeds.1/4 mile. the 83 5 speed (my fave) was a closer ration better for autocross and such.. but the rears are different too.. just like the post above mine states. switch your rears with each other.. see what happens. its too early i confused myself

Your 79 has the 3.36 R180.. Very slow at the line.. but alot more top speed. YOur 83 has the 3.9 R200.. which has alot more acceleration comparing to your 79. What do you want? Top speeds or acceleration?
