My car is a 72 240 when I put it in reverse and let up the clutch, there is a pretty significant clunk coming from the rear...it does not happen in forward gears though. does anyone know what this is?? if it is the differential id like to replace it with one thats quicker off the line what gearing ratio should I look for??? Thanks in advance!!!

could be a few things like said before me a bad diff mount, u joints, mustache bar bushings and so on. raise it up in the air and have someone look to see whats happening under there. then you will be sure of what your dealing with.
