I'm doing the 120K service on my car and noticed that the rubber shims on the crankshaft pulley are cracked. Should I replace it with a new stock crankshaft pulley or and underdrive one like Unorthodox Racing has?
Thanks,
Stew

Many have had good results with the UR-UD pulley --

mine came that way from the previous owner, runs just fine with it. Can't give you much of a comparision -- since I've always had it on this car.

If the elastimer ring (rubber spacer) is badly damaged, then I'd replace it. If it just shows some small surface cracks from drying, then it's probably OK. The last thing you want is a separation of the balancer. I've had it happen on an older Z and it wasn't pretty.

I had it happen on my 280zx Turbo too and it wasn't pretty. It does look a little deeper then surface cracks. I just have the car apart now and really didn't want to spend extra money on it. Oh well.......I wanted to do the pulley upgrade anyway.
Now I have an excuse!
