I am about to purchase a Crane Fireball multi-spark ignition system part number 6000-6420 for my '82 280ZX turbo. I was told I might need to purchase their universal trigger adapter part number 6000-8950. Has anyone installed a Crane system in an '81-83 turbo ZX?

It seems you would connect the output of the power transistor to the trigger input of the Crane ignition system. The Nissan power transistor seems to amplify the pulse from the ECU prior to the coil. Why bother with a universal trigger that relies on the OEM coil set up to trigger the Crane box?

Since this is an electrical component, I can't return it if it doesn't work.

Thanks,

Chuck

I put a HI-6 on my 72, and later found out there is no way to make the tach work on 240s due to their tach design. I love the ignition anyway, shift by sound and rely on the rev limiter as a backup.

Anyway, to your ?, I would call Crane tech support at 904-258-9055. They even have all the cars wiring diagrams and can help you with wiring if necessary.
