Is there anyone who has some knowledge of converting the rear end on a
240-280Z to the center section of the corvette? I talked to a guy years
ago who had done it, but have lost any info I had. Any help is
apprecated.

The 80-82 vette rear has an aluminum center section. I'll bet it is probably
as light or lighter than the stock R200 rear end, not to mention posi and
readily available aftermarket gears.

I too, would appreciate it if you all could alert me as well. I have done some research into the conversion, but would like to gather as much information as possible before jumping into this one. Thanks.

Here is what Henry wrote me:

I could take hours writing about the conversion I did. But, I will give you a short recap.

Use an 82 Corvette end
It must be shortened and notched for the existing mounting brackets
A new front diff mount and rear diff mount (for the A arm) must be custom made
New half shafts and drive shaft must be custom made
I did all the research and most of the work myself. I subbed out only the drive shaft and the half shafts.
I have around $2000 in the conversion

If you are willing to do that, let me know
