Hey guys got a minor issue with my 87 300zx. So I’ve been reading about possible problems that can occur with the car. And I’ve read that if your fan clutch is bad, the cooling fan could spin more than a full rotation. However, my cooling fan spins completely freely with no stopping points or resistance. You can sit and turn it freely for as long as you’d like. They say this can cause some issues with overheating, and while I haven’t had any issues with that, I definitely wouldn’t like to. Does this sound like a bad fan clutch to you guys? Whatever it might be just thought I’d ask, if anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys! -Retro

If you grab the fan and give it a spin, how many revolutions does it do before stopping. There are no stopping points but should have some resistance.

IIRC, the fan is supposed to spin freely until the engine warms up, and then it engages and resists slipping.
