I got an e-mail from someone who told me that the crankshaft may not have a pilot
bearing hole drilled in the crank. Is this true? I'm planning on using the following recipe for the car. The car is an 81 280zxt 2 seater . If you know of anthing here that I've got wrong, please let me know.

1) 280 zxt 81' engine

81' 280zxt starter (2 seater)

82 280zx 2+2 flwheel (non turbo)

82 280zx 2+2 5 speed (non turbo)

82 280zx 2+2 clutch pedal assembly and hydraulics

82 280zxt clutch package (disc, throw out bearing, pressure plate)

82 280zxt 2 seater turbo driveshaft.

Again, if somebody out there is POSITIVE this won't work, please let me know what's wrong before I get started, especially the throwout bearing and flywheel not working on the driveshaft

>don't know, but I did see a section about auto to 5 speed conversions at zhome.com. if you've not read through that yet, I'd recommend that you visit that sight and check it out.

good luck.

Hey,
I am not 100% positive, but let me throw this one at ya. I was told a while ago (I am not sure its true) but a non-turbo tranny needs a nonturbo driveshaft and a non-turbo pinion on the differential. I don't know if you have a turbo rear-end or what. Good luck.

The pilot bushing hole is there, but you need to put the bushing in. I just did this putting in a 81 turbo motor into my 71 240. I also don't think the turbo rears had a different pinion. The 300z turbos definitely have a different flange. Easy swap if it is, though.
